Celebrating the Art of Quilting

Making History: Quilts & Fabric From 1890 - 1970 by Barbara Brackman

This book is a comprehensive guide to fabrics and their influence on American quilts, from the machine age to the atomic age. It includes 9 quilt projects inspired by vintage quilt designs and fabrics and is packed with historic photos, stories and insights into the role of fabrics in everyday life. It is an essential companion volume to America's Printed Fabrics 1770 - 1890.

Barbara Brackman has been crazy about fabric since she was a child in the 1950's. She spent a good deal of her youth watching old movies on television while she embroidered dish towels. She has written many books about fabric and quilts. She was a founding member of the American Quilt Study Group and was inducted into The Quilters Hall of Fame in 2001.
